In a press release this morning, citing a conflict of interest by his office, today, El Paso
County District Attorney Jaime Esparza appointed El Paso attorney Steve Ortega
as special prosecutor to investigate recent alleged Texas Open Meetings Act
violations by El Paso City Council and the County Historical Commission.
“If there is anyone who knows about violations of the Texas Open
Meeting Act,” said Esparza, “It’s former El Paso City Council Rep Steve Ortega!”
